Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hugs,
Dennis
I hope you find sobriety and happiness. Handing over credit cards doesnt sound like a sustainable solution to a drinking problem.
What else do you plan to do to stay sober?
I do wish you well.
And Sticky, handing over the money is NOT going to be a permanent solution, just the first step I need to take right now. I can't seem to not stop and buy alcohol no matter how many times I tell myself that I am not going to do it so I needed to give up my access so that I can't buy alcohol. If this is a struggle that I can't handle in this manner, I want to go to a rehab. I am tired of thinking about it and struggling every day.
I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling. I think if I was in your spot I would reevaluate depression (as impermanence already mentioned.) I would also take a look at Naltrexone for a short term jump start to help rewire the brain's addiction to alcohol, in addition to counseling and a program like SMART Recovery. (Check out their website, you might find the free tools they offer useful.) Rehab is also another good option.
Kudos for turning over your cards to prevent yourself from buying wine. Yes, it is a short term fix, but it is a positive step and you have your husband's active support in helping you quit.
Keep trying, lostnurse, you can figure this out!
It works. Get some

And Hati - I have joined Women for Sobriety and really like their program. Very strength based and positive approach. I would recommend it!
