Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Stressed out bad. Sonny (SO) is lazy, drunk, boring, suffocating my space by constantly being here, and its almost like I am going to be here until you cant stand it anymore. Had him ride with me the other day to take sienna home and he is just a hollow man that has no life and no interests. Tv and beer and talking about others. He is not here now and trying to relax but anxious about him getting here soon. No drivers liscense and not trying to get it. Spends all extra money on beer. Does just want he has to and no more. Does not go to his daughters or spend time with them. Repeats his same boring stories over and over and over and not even taking a lot of personal care. His bedroom stinks for gods sake. No sex for 2 years and I have no desire for this with him either. I jerk if he touches me and try to get away.
have put all of this on the back burner with the deaths and Rieds problems after birth (grandbaby)
Trying to stop smoking before I go to Ryans (sons) next week and having difficulty as I am so anxious after I get off work and coming home to the elephant in the living room. I am so fucking angry at him and know that our relationship is very shallow and that I have to do something soon or go crazy. I dont want to go there as it will be so stressful but have to go and be pleasant and NOT SMOKE for Gods sake. But know that I can do it and feel like I did well if I dont smoke. Readings tell me dont regret a position that u cant smoke at but think about being proud of yourself for not. For not running away to smoke.
I want a relationship that I share things with someone but think that until I change myself I cant do this. So is this a method to not move on. Maybe I cant handle a relationship that is based on trust and mutual respect. Maybe its like stopping smoking. Maybe we are never ready to stop something that is hurting us. I find myself waiting for a moment of clarity that stays with me and gets me through my problems. I guess with me not having to work through my anxiety and fears.
I run and run and run and run away from everything with the bottle or cigs that pull me away from those that are stressing me out.
Sister is gone and it is very hard as I miss her and just cant believe she is gone. Cant believe Tara is gone( my niece died at 24). My aunt Gwyn also passed. My life is flying by as I hate it and just get through one day after another.
Do I need AA or church? Or both maybe? How do I start to enjoy life and other people with a real zest and interest again? Maybe just cant enjoy anyone that is part of this party life style that I am sick of. But now I drink alone and feel zoned out and like I dont want to be around anyone. Say everyday that I am going to go to counceling again but dont call anyone. Disappointed with several councelors that I have went to.
Advice appreciated. I am a mess.
I think that you have the answer to your troubles but you just need to take the first steps. You ask: Do I need AA or church? Or both maybe? How do I start to enjoy life and other people with a real zest and interest again? Why not start to make changes by going to an AA meeting tonight? Dont leave it until next week or tomorrow but act now.
You dont have to be stressed out and your life doesnt have to be a mess. You can make big changes but first of all you need to take small steps.
I too drank because it allowed me to escape stress, my reality, and then it stoped working. I couldnt escape, I just got way too drunk, way too fast, and felt sick and tired all the time. That and demoralized as I couldnt stop drinking on my own for any period of time without acting and feeling nuts.
I sought relief in therapy, though I didnt tell my therapist the extent of my drinking and quit after a few sessions. Didnt like him...go figure;-) I tried synagogue and felt that fell short.
I kept drinking and stopping and starting again.
Finally I went to AA. I won't go into the "how it works" but it worked. And I havent had a drink, a day at a time, since March 27, 2011. And most of the days since then have been filled with wonder and awe. I love life, I love sobriety, and I love AA.
