Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I had to work the steps in order to get to the place where you are now. Some individuals get to that place following a different path, but as long as we are all headed in the right direction, the route matters little.
One of the Promises of AA is that "we will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us." I think you are the recipient of the promise of recovery. Congratulations!!
and yep, as long as we are headed in the right direction, that is what matters :)
There was a time when I felt numb, and the days were just a blur, and not just from the alcohol. My heart was closed in fear. And, like Hotczech said, that intuition to 'handle' life has eased that fear to the point where I can stand up tall and look around with fresh eyes. For a long time I had a travel weariness about me. Now I have days where I feel young. I even look younger. The physical health is a part for sure but it's the eyes mostly. The spark is back. Why it faded isn't as important as just recognizing that it happened and appreciating the travel it took to get here. Thanks L:)
Sobriety is good for me, too, I have to say. 17 weeks for me this past Monday. I rarely think about drinking - but do have a fleeting thought from time to time.
I like how you said it, Hotczech... I took my own path to sobriety, and it certainly is working for me... so like you said, the route doesn't matter...
Even with 9 years I still think about booze sometimes, it’s just my inner alcoholic looking for the easy way to cope and more so escape from myself. The thoughts pass and I get thru the pain ( emotional or physical ) with help from my other alcoholic friends.
Alcohol wants you to think it’s all good and fine and that it wasn’t THAT bad and then WHAM... back on the nipple without missing a beat. Don’t fear alcohol but do remember it is very sneaky and will just lie and wait like a snake in the grass. It’s ok to go to the park but don’t run too fast over near the rocks... take it slow and keep your boots on
