Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
One thing is that I tell people that I am recovering from alcoholism and if they keep offering me booze I have to tell them to go f**k themselves and leave. Friends should be supportive of your decision, but damn I am finding many that are not.
Archery and booze? Goddamn that sounds like a terrible idea LOL!
Is there Archery you can attend during the day on weekends in lieu of evenings.
Over time it got easier. I was even surprised to see how many people actually didn't drink out. They were always there, I just always bee-lined for the heavy drinkers. There are parents, those who had to work or play sports the next day, designated drivers, and people who just wanted to improve on their health. And possibly a few sober alcoholics in there too.
Welcome to DS endohunt. Pop on over to the 'Discussions' tab and see if you can relate to any of the topics, and feel free to ask any questions. We're all at varying stages of sobriety and happy to share our experiences with you.
i align myself with the hard partiers. but my partying almost always went awry, and they merely had hangovers. The problem is this is where i feel comfortable, at ease, where i belong, is the wrong place for me to be. It appears i am always on the outside looking in. I can get screaming drunk and have a good time - the rest of my life falls apart.
am i making any sense?
I agree with Coogee, regarding the fact that there are a number of people who don't drink at parties. I never noticed it until I stopped drinking, so with some groups you will not be alone.
hugs,
Dennis
And in the past, when I wasn't drinking and would go to functions, I always made sure I had my own car so I could scoot out if it got too uncomfortable.
