Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I will keep you and your Mom in my prayers. It's very good that you recognize that you can't fix this - it's very frustrating trying to fix something we're powerless over.
But wow, look at all the things you CAN do! Mom is so fortunate to have you as her daughter.
I've found citing the fruits of the spirit over and over until they return to me very helpful in stressful situations: Peace, love, joy, goodness, gentleness, kindness, faithfulness, patience, and self-control.

the last time I really felt like drinking was a few months ago. My old cat had taken a turn for the worse, and I had her at the vet's. I knew it was probably going to be 'her time', and I was terribly distressed. I thought of a drink or two, but it's never a drink or two for me. I never WANT one or two, I always wants lots.
I am glad you are there for her and will continue to be. Very important that you stay sober through this. If things stay rough or get rougher, please keep posting or send me a personal message, I have been where you are now.
I wish you and your mother the best :)
My god mother says don't borrow trouble. She said this even when her only son committed suicide. Another version of don't ask what else can go wrong. Anything and everything or nothing.....but to your point we arent in control.
Its so hard to let go. I know it is for me. But try. I love LR33's suggestion of citing the gifts of spiritual life....peace, love, joy, goodness, patience......
put your troubles into a god box. Meditate on what you are actually feeling. And breathe. It will be OK.
