Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
The good thing is that you are back and ready to go again. Now maybe you can look at what you did before and see if you can do it differently this time.
One of the things that leave many alcoholics in that cold place in the ground is pride and getting over that pride is a big step on the road to recovery. Accepting that you have a problem and looking for help is overcoming pride; posting on DS about it is overcoming pride; going back to those same meetings that you were at before and admitting to what has happened is overcoming pride.
If you do not have a sponsor maybe it is time to listen out for one. The meetings are a help but recovery will come from the Twelve Steps.
There's a big meeting midday today - usually about 50 people attend. I'm thinking that's a good restarting point for me.
Listen over a few meetings to people who have what you would like to have and maybe ask one of them if he would be your sponsor. This can be the start of a journey to freedom.
I went to my first AA meeting on a Monday. I was so so SO tired of being hungover on most Mondays. Most day's really but Monday's were just sad.
Don't be embarrassed. the fact that you've gone back could inspire someone else to stay, or to go back if they relapse. It could literally help save a life..and YOURS most importantly.
Remember we've all been new, some of us more than once.
Very kind words from both of you. I couldn't make the noon meeting but there's a good one at 5:30. I'll be there
:)
