I wished when I drank, I would have gotten sick so maybe I would have stopped drinking for the night but it never happened. Hangovers??
All the time but I'd either drink to get rid of them or forget about them when it was time to drink again at night.
No hangover EVER stopped ME from drinking although it got me to SWEAR I'd never drink again.
Never worked.

I am the opposite, I am grateful I DO get sick. It definitely helps keep me in check... However, hangover or no hangover. I just want to learn to be good to myself. We all deserve that.

The reason that I ask is in the final 2 years that I drank, hangovers stopped but DT's started.

I didn't get hangovers towards the end. I definitely started getting w/d's more than hangovers. Also I did get massive anxiety attacks until I had my next drink. Sad.

We are all weak where alcohol is con serened.That's why surrender is so important one we accept "powerlessness".we can get on with our sober lives.

Hi Kate we are all different and I have known others who didnt suffer from hangovers or blackouts in recovery. And the insanity of my disease is I suffered the worst hangovers anyone could it might have been the amounts of cheap wine I drank. But those mornings I came to vomiting the last bit of bile from the pit of my stomach and not being able to blink an eye because of the pain it would cause then saying the alcoholics prayer O God never again the insanity being, knowing what may happen if I drank again, the next day I would do the same thing. I to as someone else said in the last few years of my drinking didnt suffer as many hangovers the reason why I was never sober I was always topped up.

Hi WhooHoo, you sound alot like me, I never got sick, so I have had that as a deterent. I have been sober for 3 days now and I am starting a treament plan which includes AA, I am nervous about going because I don't know people will react

Weakness has nothing to do with it.It's the disease of alcoholism and it is cunning,baffling,powerful. alot of times I didn't get hangovers cause I would not stop drinking.

I had hangovers all through my drinking. I never had DT's but no matter how horriffic my hanovers were I continued on drinking. At the start of my recovery I could not be thankful enough for the removal of my hangovers. Years later in recobery I woke up with a massive hangover it was freaky because I had nothing to drink lol..It was a hangover and not a migrain or headache..I had that happen twice in eight years.

Wow! Never had dt's??!!! I would trade horrible hangovers over dt's any day, minute, second. Dt's literally and figuratively make me want to die. Sometimes I wonder if I will.
That is so strange that you would get hangovers of any kind after being sober for a significant amount of time. I have never heard of that. Are you sure they were hangovers? That is truly a new one I have never heard of.
