Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Does anybody know any good books about starting a new life in recovery? I'm looking for like self help type book but something that really catches my interest. I searched and couldn't find anything. Right now I'm reading a book called The Fearless Mind. I'm 5 months sober and it feels like I'm wearing an old shoe that doesn't fit. I'm considering creating a plan for major life changes, such as ditching my corporate life and moving to the mountains where I can live a much more serene life in nature. I was hoping to find a book that relates to such, I've read Rolf Pots Vagabonding, which was good but I'm not looking for long term travel, I'm looking for just a life change. Maybe what I'm looking for doesn't exist and I'm supposed to write it...

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Living a serene life is about you, not your surroundings....
When I took the suggestions in the book, my life changed dramatically and for the better.
I gave away my last copy but you can get one used on amazon for a few dollars. I highly recommend.
God Bless!

Eva Pierrakos, The Pathwork of Self Transformation

I got lost in the AA big book and 12 and 12 also as well as a whole host of self help, psychological, spiritual and religious ones...:)
I really simplified my life when I first got sober and I still keep it fairly simple. Turned my back on old life and old career because I didn't seem to suit it anymore...I never regret that :)
