Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

planned a Trip, which I would not have done before sober, to the Big Apple. Taking my 16 yo daughter and am getting super excited. This has been about saving money for four months and working extra, but it will be worth it. She’s into dance and we are going to see a friend of hers perform in May.
Any tips as to what we should see? Anybody up there on DS?

My friend invited me out for lunch at this nice, clean sit-in place, where I got to order a salad of my choice with two chicken toppings out of a wall-mounted variety. I don't remember the name of the place. However, it was a nice experience. Thereafter, we headed down to one of my favorite dessert destinations, the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in McAllen. It had been a while since we just...

DS, I just have to say that if I did not love my friends here on DS I would be gone in a heart beat! I am at my wits end of losing posts! It seems like the Gateway thing seems to be a you problem. How can we fix it? I always make sure that I am online and signed in before I hit send.Welcoming any suggestions other than the ones that I recieved before.

How far are you traveling to get there?
We also went on an evening dinner cruise on the Spirit of New York which took us up the river, around the Statue of Liberty after dark when it's all lit up...It's a fascinating sight to behold. There was live music on board. After dinner was served, the waiters and waitress change out of their clothes in front of us and entertain us with a song and dance routine. I really loved this.
We spent a morning in Macy's where we received a free gift compliments of the bus company and we spent the afternoon just walking up and down 5th ave. which.... in itself.... was very entertaining! If you go in Macy's, you will get lost, like we did. I can almost guarantee it...
Our visit was before 9/11 so we could have gone up to the top of the twin towers but we chose the empire state building instead because it was closer. Now there is a museum on the site of where the twin towers use to be and friends have told me it's something everyone needs to experience, so if you go there, be sure to tell us all about it!
Good luck on your trip. I hope you and your daughter have a great time! Bring a camera and take lots of pictures!
~~~Peace~~~
I love the Museum of natural history but it takes a lot of time... If you do go I suggest the mineral exhibit (the gem room is awesome) and outline a few others of your interest so that a couple of hours will be an experience but not an endurance. From there Central Park is quite inviting especially in spring.
When I go myself I head to the art museums across the park..
Standing at battery park is cool and even if you aren't taking the ferry you can see statue of Libery and back at the city.
I like walking up 5th avenue as it opens up into the park....
PIZZA! lol
So nice for her to be going with a sober dad! Have fun
The botanical garden in the Bronx is beautiful and you can have some real Italian dinner after...Not sure what her interests are.
Wallet in front pocket if you take the subway...
