Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I had tried AA before but never found a sponsor. This time when I go tomorrow I will tell them I at least need a temporary sponsor until I find one. I have tried doing this on my own and seem to have no willpower. I am very sick with Lyme disease am being treated with antibiotics and herbal supplements. I get so sick while taking them and go off them for a couple days to let the symptoms die down and then I drink. I know when I drink I cant stop until the bottle is empty and I feel so great while I am drinking I have absolutely no pain. But the hangover is beyond words and my Lyme symptoms are back ten fold. Plus I can't remember a lot if what I did while drinking. Its so depressing trying to piece together the night before. I don't drink often only because I am on antibiotics or I would be. I do know I am delaying getting better by doing this. I want to change so badly.

Funny thing is, I had been attending meetings for about a month when I raised my hand and asked a question. This was a beginners meeting and nearly everyone who attended this meeting took turns giving me answers with beneficial suggestions on how they could identify!
After the meeting, I got my sponser. He volunteered. It doesn't usually happen that way but it did for me.
Best suggestion I can make is to raise your hand and tell the group what you just told us and I feel strongly, that you will get your sponser!
Sorry about the lyme disease, I know alot of people who have that, some have it a little worse then others but all seem to be managing their symtoms ok.
