Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I'm finding that preparation is everything during my first week of sobriety. Had plans to go out with a friend last night. Got there early and ordered a "mock" tail (club soda w/lime). Looks just like my usual vodka tonic. I think it will be easier this way. Too stressfull to go into the whole... i'm not drinking. Why aren't you drinking? On a side note, it's so strange to be the sober one watching someone get more and more intoxicated as the night goes on. At the end of the night, I drove home clear headed and had a great nights sleep. Trying to stay focused on the positive aspects of sobriety.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Also the real killer for many of my attempts at sobriety was going back into the 'Devils Den" I would try to go to the bar and be normal and just drink coke or whatever. I was able to handle the drinking part but the part that killed me was seeing others drink and having fun and loud and laughing and I wanted SO badly to have that again. See the drinking was my escape. I found I needed to just stay clear of the dive bars and loud scene b/c it was just too close to a drink.

Good job, well done.
Just be careful about going to places where alcohol is served in the early days of sobriety. There is a saying in AA that goes: “If you stay long enough in the barber shop, you will get a haircut”.
Last time I went to a place like that was a wedding reception and I asked for a coke. I told the bartender I was driving and he said, "Thank God someone is!"
God Bless!
