Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

IMO that is. Stuff like this happans alot in my life for some reason.
For the past 3 months I have been putting off getting a white chip again. Kinda ashamed of myself for slipping after being clean and sober for 4 years. B ut I realized I had to get that honesty chip again.
I don't usually go to meetings on a weekday, usually it's my sunday night meeting. I am good friends with the guy who runs it.
So last night, friday, I felt compelled to go to a meeting I had never been to at this particular location. I just felt like if I went, got that white chip, I would feel a whole lot better and that it would be worth the half hour drive.
So I get there and my former IOP buddy is the chairman and he hands me the book and tells me to read the daily reading when he tells me to. So I did and it was all about step one and giving 100%. How appropriate for a guy like me.
Another coincidence. My sponser happened to be there celebrating his 10 year anniversery and saw me getting the white chip! How cool is that? Now we can celebrate together from now on! When he saw me walk through the door, I thought he was going to faint lol!
So we had a long talk after the meeting and I promised to get together with him. Plus another guy shoves his phone number in my hand and tells me to call anytime day or night! I found good people at this meeting, I may go back to it. :)
Now if the patriots win tomorrow night, it will have been a great week :)
God Bless!

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I also found that God is always there to help me that extra mile through others and through seeking His guidance. Spiritual principles/doing the next right thing never fail.
I hope your team comes good as you cheer them on :)
Cool that you finally pickes up your chip. I remember when I picked up my first white keyring I felt so ashamed but that was in 1993. I didn't stop for a while after that but did it on 12 Jan 1994!!
There's always room for one more on the sobriety bus!!
Change is hard, I think, even if it's for the better.
Don's worry about Brady and company, they will be in the big game come Feb.
:-)
Great post!
IMO it isn't the stopping meetings itself that causes the problem. It is the state of our spiritual condition which allows us to think that we don't need meetings, don't need to be connected, don't need to do service and don't need to carry the message, that is the root of the problem.
A man is trapped at home during a terrible storm. He soon realises the house will be flooded, and he climbs to the roof. As the waters rise, he prays to God for rescue. Just then, a neighbour appears in a rowing boat. But the man refuses to get in. Im waiting for God to rescue me, he says.
A little while later, another man arrives in a motorboat. Still the man refuses to get in. Im waiting for God to rescue me, he says again.
Then, with the water lapping at his feet, a helicopter descends from the clouds and drops a line to the stranded man. But he still wont leave the rooftop. Im waiting for God to rescue me, he shouts.
Inevitably, the man drowns in the flood waters. When he arrives in heaven, the man asks, God, why didnt you answer my prayer?
Are you crazy? replied the Lord. I sent you a rowboat, a motorboat, and a helicopter! Why didnt you get in?
Unlike that man, you are seeing some worthwhile signs that God will help you do what you cannot do for yourself. Get in the middle of the AA rowboat, do your bit with the rowing and you'll get there.
I know that isolating is toxic to me. I know now that I need to be involved especially with others and I need to be willing to continue to learn.
Thanks for all of your support, I love this group and I find I need you all, to help keep me sober.
God Bless!
I saw the Ravens win! Saw the Houston game, but will look up the Patriots when I finish this! Hope your team won - it is the cream of the crop.
My boss (an MD) always told his patients to be out and about - it is important for all of us to interact with others on an ongoing basis. I force myself to be social because it gets me out of myself if you know what I mean. My head seems clearer when I return home!
So happy to know you are doing so well. Take good care.
