Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I have a problem with this aspect of the A.A. axiom. It took me a long time to come around to there being a God in the biblical sense, and this took freewill. Even then, i still had an argument disproving freewill, which I've since discarded.
I believe that this notion of handing the reins over to God negates that which is the greatest gift God gave us, 'septin' Jesus.
There's a man who hears a flood warning on the radio telling everyone to evacuate. He says God will save me and decides to wait it out. Later on, as the waters have approached his front door, the police come by in a four by four.
"hey buddy, you got to evacuate."
"I'm not worried, God will save me."
The police leave.
later on after the waters have forced the man on to his roof a police helicopter flies over.
"C'mon guy, we're gonna get you out of here."
"Don't worry about me," the man says, "go save someone who needs you, God's going to save me."
They fly off, and later on the man drowns in the flood water. When he gets to Heaven, he demands to speak with God, and asks "Why didn't you save me?"
To which God answers "Jesus Christ man, I sent you a radio warning, some guys in a truck, and a freaking helicopter! (yes God cusses in my world, that's why we're tight now.)
At the end of my days, how do I explain not taking advantage of God given opportunities?

God doesn't have feet!
I can ask God for stuff, but all He gives me is opportunities.
Sometimes it just takes an o'jumpstart from my cronies to get me back on God's track.
