Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Some things happen quickly some take time...but its nice to be on a road and travelling I think and not be caught up in the destination

My guess is that there is a direct relationship between the length of time that it takes and how open the mind is to new thinking.
I had three Grade 4 episodes before diagnosed. Nobody picked up on it and I had textbook symptoms that I was giving to all my doctors. Yet, I had never heard of HE. It nearly killed me. Makes you forget, irritable, confused and slow to think, messes up your sleep patterns. I had a hard time consolidating cereal one night from two boxes that were mostly empty into one bowl. I then collapsed and was life lifted out to UNM.
Just a thought. Do you have liver damage? Trapped toxins in the liver cause the HE.

Benefit of hindsight I was doing pretty good. Not drinking, not messing my shorts and I even had the dregs of a job to hang on to that was progress. Maybe I had low expectations and maybe I didn't know any better yet.
I have never regretted stopping drinking or starting the journey. I sometimes regret my own stubborness...the part that makes me prefer to rest halfway up the mountain and pretend to myself I have done all the climbing I need to do
