Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi there! First time posting here. My counselor gave me this site and thought it would be helpful to me. I am a 33 year old female with two small children. I have been addicted to alcohol for 2 years after dealing with a emotionally abusive 9 year relationship with my husband. I filed for divorce 2 weeks ago. He got very angry about this when he found out. He called me every name in the book, spread bad rumors about me to his family and friends, told me to kill myself/ that I would be better off dead for my kids, etc. I filed after I went to a short term rehab to get sober. I am 3 weeks sober.... And going though the hardest time of my life ..

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I remember when I hit my low, I had no idea how I was going to stay sober. It seemed like my world, was caving in on me. It was suggested that I go to an AA meeting for more support which I did and I sat in the back and told an older fellow sitting next to me about all my problems. He never said a word until I was finished.
His answer was simple and to the point as he replied, "All you have to do is stay sober, one day at a time. That's ALL you have to do! THAT...you can handle. You don't need to do anything else! I immediately thought to myself, "What kind of answer was that?" As I look back, to that moment in my life, I can easily see that it was the perfect answer.
As if on cue, things began to slowly change for the better. It was like a Higher Power was manipulating the pieces of the puzzle of my life and placing them exactly where they needed to go, and at the right times! I had money coming from places I never expected, I got a new job I really liked, and my relationships improve. I remember my AA sponsor telling me that good things happen to those who stop drinking, and that proved to be right. I heard similar stories at AA meetings!
So if I could make a suggestion, it would be to just focus on staying sober and eventually, the rest of your life will come together in a way, you could never have predicted!
You have a story that needs to be told. Many will identify and will be helped.
So keep coming back. The path you take on your road to recovery, might help someone else.
God Bless

You put your kids first by finding sobriety. Kudos to you and welcome.
Know that now it's time to invest in yourself so taking another huge step to get and stay sober is something you should be very proud of and shows that you are much stronger than you think you are.
Ignore the, character assassination by your ex - those that matter in your life will know the truth and his lies will have no substance.
You can do this!!! Focus on your future of freedom from your ex and freedom from the bottle.
