Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
I finally went to my first AA meeting tonight. It was a Women's meeting in a home. There were six other very supportive, amazing women there, I shared some, but mostly listened to their stories. I feel so motivated and hopeful. I am planning on going to another meeting tomorrow evening. Thanks for all of your stories and encouragement! You all have helped me through my fears.

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
Great you went, you deserve to be happy and it is possible.

How were he subsequent meetings? You will find over time, which meetings you enjoy and which ones you don't prioritize getting to.
I have a regular meeting M-F at noon.
Monday is open meeting with small bday celebrations, we have about 80-90 people.
Tuesday is men's stag, so women meet with any other men who don't attend the stag.
Wed is a big meeting where we do full bday chips and that draws about 100 people.
thurs is 12 step meeting.
Fri is the women's meeting, with any women not interested in being just women joining the men.
I only attend the MW and sometimes Fri.
There are many other meetings around I could attend and every once in a while I attend what's called the donut meeting.
Different people and different days, plus durations (I hate anything longer than an hour) dictate your meeting pattern.
But I've also had times where I had it with my family and hit an emergency 7p meeting somewhere. It's the beauty of AA.
As you make friends in the program, any time you get two or more AA people together, you have a meeting. That can be at a Starbucks, a restaurant, or in the park.
I am a better man, husband, father, son, brother, friend, co-worker, boss to those I know and I treat strangers with a different kindness I never expressed before. The meetings and the fellowship of the people there, the familiar happy faces and laughter before, during and after the meetings changed who I am.
Wonderful supportive other women has been my experience in AA too. I've met some incredible people at my home group; and every time I go to a meeting out of town when I'm traveling too.
