Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

The main thing for me was to not get too serious with myself and to be easy on me. I was one to continually sabatoge myself and when I would get to feeling better, i would be back in the death star that was drinking. Keys for me to get thru the early times was to find something to replace the drinking. I found the rooms of aa a safe place where I knew that there wouldnt be any booze. Also important was to stay away from bars and places where I used to booze it up. Sure I wanted to be able to tell myself i was strong enough and I can do anything... but I would go and not drink and just the sight of other people drinking was very hard on me. I was so resentful of them for being able to drink. I didnt like feeling different.
Now a few 24 hours of sobriety later, things are better and the cravings are much less and farther apart. I have made new friends in the room and have support. I had never asked for help before and its still hard for me to ask for help. But it beats dunking my head in a bottle and ignoring.
I think you got a good start now its vital to hit the afterburners and get busy avoiding the death star, because there will be times when the tractor beam starts pulling, you need to be ready to fly the other way, Good luck and check in often

Work with other alcoholics, a strong relationship with God, and the willingness to change and be taught have helped build a strong foundation that gives me little to worry about in daily living.
