Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

So this week I started and failed several times.
However, my failures were smaller (I managed to cut myself off), and my restarts were immediate. I did not let it keep me down.
Of the last 7 days - I was sober for 4- that is good for me. And feel that even though I slipped on 3, my success days were higher than my fail days.
I feel stronger now. I am starting again... I am really starting to feel that I can make it this time... I am starting to picture myself as a sober person. Which is strange because before it was alway trying to see "how long I could be sober before I failed."
I think I may have made the mental shift - that some of you speak about.
I do not want to be alcohol's girl anymore, I am officially breaking up with him. He does not treat me right, and I deserve better.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Good luck, I hope you can make it this time.
God Bless!
You just got to ask yourself why is this drinking so important to me.
For me it was the thought, oh I can never drink again, Im losing out on something, one last weekend, then another last weekend.
Then I realised with the help of a bit of therapy that I wasnt losing something, I was gaining something, my life back, my health, my self respect and on it goes.
Thats just my opinion. I use to drink most days in my 20s but that changed once my health started to decline so Id smash it on Fridays when I didnt have to work the next day.
Best wishes.

Lost, if you think staying sober 4 days out of 7 is a good thing, it may be time to go back to the drawing board. May be time to find help.
@gr8ful - I did not mean to imply I think that 4 of 7 is a good thing... I am comparing it to the week before where it was 7 out of 7... so I am focusing on the fact that I am not giving up. And that I am continuing to try.
I am assuming that everyone here who made it probably failed at some point and had to learn to focus on positive things so the demons don't drag you back down.
Please no one assume that my goal is 50% sobriety... it is 100% sobriety... But I also suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and past abuse... I don't think this will be easy... I just think I want it bad enough now.
Again - thanks to everyone on this forum for your wonderful support and advice. :)
Keep reaching out and raise that bar for yourself. You can do it. My last AA sponsor relapsed multiple times before he finally hit his stride. Now he has 17 years.
My own brother has over 13 years and he did it through his faith in Christ. There are different methods but the end result is the same.
Take the window of opportunity and go find a room of ppl that have been right there before. I was only able to do it with help. You can too
