Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I was a falling down, blacking out drunk from the first drink to the last drink. When the waves of fear, of not having another drink, would wash over me, I thought I could not do this - I could not stop drinking.
Then I thought "if my life is not 100% better by the time I'm 75, I am going to get rip roaring drunk and stay that way." This was the only way I could do sobriety one day at a time. It gave me a concrete ending date and that I could handle. One day at a time I have been sober for 28 years and while my life is 500% better - Im moving the target date up - because this approach works for me.
Any manner in which a person can grasp sobriety is what a person should do. When I finally arrived at AA, and was able to hear the experience, strength and hope of people who had gotten sober, I then saw a way for me.
Sobriety gives a drunk (or problem drinker) a whole new lease on life - it is like night and day and it's available for everyone.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I have to keep changing my goal posts, 1st it was a year, and I never thought I would get to two years, I am now hitting 2 years and my goal now is 5 years, iif its all ok then (which it will be) I will extend it to ten years.
Some will say this method is not right, but it works for me so no point in changing.
If I said never, I would spend the whole of my day wondering how I wouild never ever drink again, this way I don't have to, just keep it in the day and let the years tick by
Sobriety gives us Life, I agree there
