Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

The odds are the abstinent newcomer will be crazier than a drunk, due to lack of coping skills with out their medicine. They can be especially crazy if they are not examining the reasons they drank alcoholically. Thats why Id take a drunk over an abstinent newcomer any day. Ive been a observing this for many years and not just at AA meetings.
There are a lot of mildly annoying people that arent assholes, due to the fact that not all alcoholics have the same personality, e.g. quiet passive types. Also, there are passive aggressive types, which with my experience can be the worse type. Id rather have an in your face asshole type any day, because you know where theyre coming from.
The bottom line is very simple and why cookie cutting doesnt work. Alcohol lowers inhibitions and can only influence behavior that exists or behavior that one entertains where they have the potential to act out. Alcohol cannot make someone act out what they are morally and ethically incapable of doing sober.
Ouch.
I also feel a huge debt of gratitude when I see someone acting like I used to.
What do they say." You can tell an alcoholic but you can't tell them much." I hope they meant the practicing ones.lol. God every word that come out of my mouth never had more than four letters in it.
I was like a lion when i was drinking and a sheep when I wasn't alcohol change everything about me. Though if anyone came to me for help these days I would go to any lengths to help.
One good thing these days I can chose to say something or go somewhere else I don't need to go straight in and bash someone and in return get bash for doing it.
It is so good these days to wake up without any guilt or remorse over something I may have done or said when like those drunks.Knowing I haven't phoned someone or em barest someone who may have known me including family or friends.
I love being sober.
God Bless...
Lionel
However, I think sometimes you can take the drink away from the arsehole, but you can't take the arsehole away from the drink! The last time I went out after an AA meeting, we went to a Mexican restaurant. There was a crowd of us being loud and lewd, complaining about the music, acting like they were the most hilarious people in the world, being rude to the waitress. I was embarrassed. I looked around and saw the other people quietly hunched down over their food, and thought hey, they must think this is a table full of drunks! LOL
