Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Well I am on day 3 again. I had 122 days sober but was still messing around with drugs. Up until my fall I had kept my drugging and drinking as 2 separate entities. I would come off of a bad night or 2 of drugging and think at least I didn't drink. In hindsight it was a matter of time before those two worlds would collide! Took a few drinks to come down off coke well that led to me getting very drunk and waking up in a motel with a woman I didn't know. What is so bad about that is that I am married.Well I now realize I am just as bad off with the drugs as I as with booze.
I am totally clean now and am going to work it all as one program. I confessed to my AA sponsor and we are going to my 1st NA meeting. It sucks starting over again but this time I will be doing it with total honesty with myself. I look forwards to adding the days up that I am truly clean.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

I started out as a narcotic addict becoming addicted to prescription painkillers. The problem was, I had alot of negative things going on in my life when I received that first script from my doctor and those pills seemed to cure all that was wrong with my world.....at least, that's what they made me think!
I started drinking when I could no longer get pills. The 12 steps saved my life and I use them as they apply to any addiction.
There is a good book called, "The 12 steps for everyone who really wants the", which is the AA 12 steps adapted for EHA (Emotional Health Anonymous) You can get it used on amazon for a few dollars. It walks you through each step and explains them in easy to understand language. I got alot out of it and highly recommend.
Being "totally clean" was, for me, the first step in healing. Letting go of all my negative emotions seemed to open the communication link between me and my Higher Power. Thats when a number of little miracles began taking place in my life.
I have never been happier! You will too, in time. It just takes working the steps, prayer, and meditation.
Good luck with your newfound sobriety and God Bless!
I personally don't believe I'm sober unless I am abstinent of all mood/ mind altering drugs. The only exception is Dr prescribed, and taken as prescribed... pain or anti depressants.....
If I was doing drugs while not drinking I'd count those days as drugged/ drunk....not sober days.
Anyway....AA + NA works for many of my friends! Many in my home group identify as alcoholic addicts ... Or alcoholic tweakers....or whatever.
Good luck:-)
No bobinmaine I didn't tell my wife that would only hurt her. She would probably forgive me she has in the past. I just will do my best not to repeat that mistake again.
Congratulations on you 3 days of being totally sober. I found recovery is like an onion. The layers are peeled away and more is revealed. It is quite a journey.
Welcome back.
On the personal side (hope you dont mind) You also need to make an appointment with a MD or clinic if you had unprotected sex and get checked out. In the meantime it's probably not wise to have relations with your wife. It wouldn't be very nice for her if you brought home something and passed it to her.
You'll be back to 4 mo. sober b4 you know it! hugs DD
It's all the same, drugs and booze - booze is a drug. It's just called addiction. Alcohol is just a legal drug.
