Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Hi! I have been drinking alcohol for years and not able to quit from it. The maximum days which I can live without it is may be three to four days, then it's the same routine. I have tried AVRT and even read many books on alcoholism. But nothing worked. I am so scared and don't want to go on like this anymore. I just want to recover from this. Do I have to take the help of any addiction recovery treatment centres in Toronto like helix healthcare for my problem? Has anyone done the spectrum recovery program(https://helixhealthcaregroup.com/spectrum/ )? Hoping someone can give me thoughts on what I should do now. Thank you.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

The good news is that no matter how bad things may be right now, you can turn it around completely and have a great life without alcohol. Countless other people have done it and you can do it too.
I cannot tell you anything about the treatment centres in your area but I would urge you to rule nothing out. Sometimes people can recover from alcoholism by reading self-help books etc. but very often it takes far more than that. Have you considered going to some AA meetings? If I were you I would try AA and give it my complete attention. That means putting everything else, including family and friends down the list for a few months. If you find that you are still struggling, then you could consider going to an addiction centre.
So I found this board about 4 1/2 years ago, kept drinking for awhile and then after a bad Saturday on June 10 I decided I needed help. I looked up an AA meeting and went. Finally I found hope. I was able to learn how to handle life without drinking.
It is a tricky thing drinking. B/c as soon as I quit I felt better and then I would go back. I didn't need help stopping , I needed help staying stopped. It is possible. I have not had to drink in four years. It's a miracle.

It wasn't the last drink that got me in trouble. It was the first drink.
God Bless
There is a site called "In the Rooms" that has a lot of members that offer support and understanding because a lot of us have been there.
Maybe try AA in your area? I've been to meetings in Toronto -- very good!
