Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Gr8ful
When I first put the grog down, I was speaking to a long term member. I asked this member how do you get to have double digits sobriety, because for me a few days of sobriety seemed an impossibility.
This member said 2 things to me that has always stuck in my head
First up don't be in a hurry to get double digits this means you are double digits older than today. Enjoy the journey, live the journey today and treasure every moment of sobriety.
Secondly to get double digits in sobriety all you have to do is to get one day more than 9 years and 364 days of sobriety, all it takes is one more day.
More G8 waffling

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Thank you

If my mind wanders to the past or the future, I immediately haul it back to the present.
I got this idea from an AA book called acceptance. Such a novel idea but so true and so helpful!
God Bless!
Don't drink and don't die. lol.
Just saying,
Confused
Like I said, I'm new to the program. I'm sure my insecurities have something to do with the expression. I talked to my sponsor about this and he actually agreed with me to a certain extent and he's been sober for 11 years. All I can do is continue to work the steps and be accountable for myself. 7 weeks 12 meetings (I'll go to more once I'm allowed to drive more). At this time I can only drive to and from work so I do a lot of walking. It sucks because it is very cold in Ohio right now, brrrrrr.
Peace
Confused
Today is what is important not what is going to happen in 10 years.
The length of sobriety is not what is important, it is what you have done in that time what is most important.
You say you have seven weeks, hopefully you have had seven weeks of experience and not one week of experiences seven times, if you get my drift.
I have met members in AA who have 10, 15. 20 years and yet they have done nothing to improve themselves. They have one year experience 10, 15. 20 times.
Hope this makes sense G8
