Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Spiritual or emotional apathy that can be me.
One example everyday in my morning prayers I ask God as I try to understand Him that I be aware of His will for me for today and that I be given the grace to carry it out.
And some days its just like I am lip reading. Talking the Talk and not doing what I know will help me grow stronger Walking the Walk.
So this may be a boost I need to put in the action. So I will use this prayer throughout today.
Live Well, Love Much, Laugh Often.
God Bless
Lionel
I have said this prayer a few times today and what I have found is I don't have any defects of character ,They have me. Impatience has risen it's head a few times today. Humility has taken a walk.
Inconsideration of others needs. These are things that keep me from being aware of Gods will for me. Still time to turn it around though.
God Bless...

Where I got sober, in the inner city suburbs of Melbourne, there was this massive obsession with defects of character, and it ended up being quite a negative thing. Some people come into AA with absolutely squashed senses of self esteem and some with mental illness that makes that a very dangerous thing. Some people's think is ALL about how defective their character is, 24 hours a day. And how little their worth is.
But for everybody, I think, as I learned from older sober members going along, is that it is also important to have sponsorship and other older sober members who remind you of your character STRENGTHS. Both character defects and character strengths need to both be brought out into the open to help the new member to have a balanced ego/self esteem and realistic view of themselves.
