Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I used to think I was craving alcohol but really it was my mind playing tricks on me. If the alcohol was out of my system there could be no physical craving, it was the mental obsession that seemed to come out of nowhere. Very sudden, very strong. As alcoholism progressed in me the ability to pull back and reason with myself happened less often. The earlier action is taken, the better.
So, obviously seeing alcohol in your house can make you crave. I have fought this idea alot. You probably already saw how your thoughts activated a craving. If you were interested CBT uses ABC's to fight cravings. I have been using the ABC's alot but as you can tell I am still struggling. In all fairness I don't do my homework everyday just like back in good ol' highschool.
Anyways you helped me out last time I was on here (thanks). Hope I can repay the favor a little.
Pour that poison out. Get sober. Live.

As for alcohol in the house... I live with a drinker so it was always there. Because it was there, I was aware that not drinking was my choice, not lack of availability. And as you say, you can always get in the car and get some if you want. That said, you might be making it harder on yourself by having vodka within easy reach.
