Hi -

As many of you probably read, I drank last night. And as is always the case I drank a lot.

So today is the first day of my third attempt to stop drinking.

The first attempt lasted 11 days, then I had two bad weeks before I tried again. That second attempt which ended yesterday lasted 9 days.

Of course today I felt like crap when I woke up as I knew I would and I laid in bed so mad at myself.

I mentioned in my post last night where I admitted to my messing up that my wife is away. She'll be back tomorrow. I haven't decided if I should tell her I got drunk or not.

I know that not telling her is being dishonest with her and with myself.

I guess the more important thing is to start this new day #1 and focus on being strong going forward so that I don't have another bad two weeks the way I did the last time.

What are you planning to do that is different? How about go to an AA meeting today. Now. There is likely one within a close drive.

Hi --

I searched online and the closest AA is about an hour drive away! And I have travel related anxiety (and with the meds I'm on I really shouldn't drink at all!) but I did see some stuff about online meetings and teleconference meetings so I'm going to look into that more.

When I drank, I would go as far as I had to in order to get my booze. I drove in a snowstorm once. I have gotten out of my sobriety what I have put into it. I'm so grateful home computers weren't available when I sobered up. I probably would have just sat on my behind with a drink in my hand instead of taking action. Best wishes Rich.

Yes I have to agree with the other poster. I did what I needed to do for booze. Do what you have to do for your sobriety. Its so worth it.
Go to a meeting. Just try.

As it turns out, there is not an AA meeting near by - the closest is about an hour drive and I have travel anxiety so I am going to try one of the online or phone based support groups.

Today is day 6 for me (day 6 of my 3rd attempt). I'm feeling good and productive and I survived a dinner with my mother-in-law last night with cranberry juice and seltzer! In the past I would have been drinking for sure, and more than likely drinking too much.

Don't travel AA and Lifering have on line meetings just to name two.

Your sobriety is you business not you wife's. It's OK if you don't want to tell her.
