Get the pic you want, right click, then select save pic as, then select where to save (desktop is good for me), then go to update photo on your page, hit browse, then find your pic, click, and hit update.
So, Karen, I have tried before and I tried again tonight after finding an avatar I liked, so I was doing the steps you said to and I get an error message saying "invalid avatar". I'll keep trying. Grrrrr.
