Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

She leaves behind two children. Young ones.
So today be grateful for life. Its a huge gift and the gitt is in the day to day.
I often forget this at times and go a bit further down that road, I dwelling on it too much but I don't drink and eventually regain emotional balance, but sometimes things in life come at me like a machine gun. The best I can do is keep in the front of my mind nothing is permanent. Better days will come and go.
Really how bad is my life now without alcohol than it was with it? That question for an alcoholic really is a no brainer.
Going through the feelings and dealing with tough situations without alcohol gave me a such a feeling of self worth and competence that I joined the human race.
It sounds like you probably got the money to pay for the repairs as you didn't list as part of your situation. Now ain't that something...
I used to think it was all about stopping the drinking and staying off it. Then I learned I had - and still have - much work to do on my emotions and reactions to what happens in my life.
I can't afford to grab onto anger, fear or self-pity - just a few of my maladjusted emotions that, left unchecked, would have me running back to the old "answer" which only ever made everything worse...
I need one to one, face to face help from other recovered alcoholics that at first I found painful but these days it's joyful to have such special friendships where we know each other so well.
I was still married when I was in a car accident (not my fault) and insurance paid us to get it fixed. My now ex wife took the money that was suppose to pay for those repairs, and went to Florida with her boyfriend!
I don't have that kind of money to fix my car so I could use some prayers for business to pick up for me.
Thanks!
God Bless!
Still, there are plenty of other things I can feel good about. What I choose to focus on is up to me.
Glad you shared how you dealt with the blues without picking up a drink. Water, meditation, continued commitment to sobriety. That's how it works. Spring sure seems slow to arrive this year, but it won't be long now! Let's look forward to better days! (and the filling in of those potholes!)
I hope you can enjoy your walk to pick up the car and that the snow and rain hold off until you get home.
Safe travels.
