Blood Results

So I have been trying to be sober all the time since Sept 29 - one of my reasons for deciding to change was because a week before I had a blood test showing liver damage. (and let's be real - I obviously needed it).

Since then, I have not been perfect - as you all know this is a difficult fight...but I am fighting - and I have slips - but in the last 2 weeks I have only stumbled twice and cut myself off both times.

Today - blood work was performed again... and I am back within the normal range...

First - YEAH!!!!

Second - this is fantastic motivation, I feel so much better than I used too, and to see such great results makes me even more dedicated to my decision of complete sobriety, this is so obviously what I need.

Thank you to everyone on these forums - for support, kind words, advice and being a compassionate ear, you have all helped me on this journey - I will only get better and better at this!

If you get a craving, don't be afraid to ask for help. We have all been in your shoes at one time or another.

I'm so happy for you. This is a motivator for me too. I got test results that said low folate. Number one cause chronic alcohol abuse. Scared the crap outta me. I'll redo blood tests end of October. I hope mine is good news. I'm frightened. They never ran liver tests. But I choose life.

I too had bad alt ggt liver enzyme levels. I remember going to a doc in the box and registering under the name buck Rogers ... My levels were 155 and I was killing myself. My level went back after I was sober for a yr. normal is 0-55.

I would be dead if I kept drinking.

Yes, don't force your liver to battle alcohol. Alcohol will win the war and from what I have heard, it ain't pretty.

Lost a cousin younger than myself and an uncle not much older to liver disease just over a year ago. This disease runs deep in our veins. So glad for you:) keep it up. Proud of u.

    check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
