Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

I have had a really blah day! I got off work at noon and took a nap....have not wanted to get off the couch all day! I did call my sponsor and she had me call four women, none answered (almost thankful because im just so not in the mood)
Anyways, my question is, how do I get myself to snap out of this? I am not really having a pity party just do not want to be doing anything at all!
Is it ok to be lazy sometimes? Or is a whole day bad? Honestly, I used to have days like this A LOT when I was drink..."hangover days"....So, I do feel really guilty about being so unproductive....but they are not NEARLY as often as they were...
IDK, what do you all think or how do you get yourself to snap out of it and get motivated???

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

I'm glad you asked ...
First ... get a pen & paper & make a short GRATITUDE LIST ...
just some small stuff like you have a job ...
your clean ... if you are ...
that your NOT craving a drink ...
anything POSITIVE.
Then as your mood gets better ... which it should ...
CALL THE WOMEN AGAIN & IF THEY ARE STILL NOT
HOME ... CALL 4 more.
Then call your sponsor & briefly let her know what you did.
Hope it helps ...
I'm looking forward to what the other's suggest.

I know what you mean about feeling blah and unmotivated though.

Calling people, especially talking about *their* problems takes me out of it too.
Good luck and GOOD sobriety:)

LOL
I do not do much reading for enjoyment except in chat rooms and online peoples stuff...books and I are not really friends....haha
I could never understand how others were so peaceful with 'normality'; now I get it.
Welcome to the normal world Ash.....it took you a while to get here so be grateful to your HP you did.
Peace to you lovely :)
I have days where I don't feel like talking and I think that's okay...you can't be "up" at all times every day, that's just in a fantasy world. Even the happiest people on earth have "blah" days and there's no reason to hide it or "pretend" that you're not feeling crappy. Just admit it. I do, when I'm not feeling up to par and if pressured, I'll simply state that I'm just in a shitty mood and please forgive me and stay tuned cause happy me will be back no time. :)
I think that's a common denominator in alcoholics, we feel we always have to be "up", but that is not natural....everyone has blah days, accept that your blah....eat some ice cream & watch a sappy girley movie and ignore the phone. As long as you don't grab a bottle of wine, you're okay and you're aloud to be "blah". Ride it out and know that yes, this too shall pass. :) Hang in there girley. It will be okay!
