Hello friends!
I have been a member of DS for over 3 years now, though I have not been on much lately. Most of you probably don't know me for that reason, but I would like to share a few things about my sobriety. In sobriety I have had a still born child, watched my mother drink herself to death, lost my father, and recently had to endure a grueling treatment for breast cancer.....so many things went wrong during treatment that I had the medical staff quite perplexed.
Is anyone thinking that this is a "poor me" post? Absolutely not, I don't operate that way. In sobriety I have met & married a wonderful man, we just celebrated our 11th anniversary. I have had 2 (more) beautiful children, the world is a better place with them in it. I have met some amazing people in AA, people whom I would not have met otherwise. And I have developed a relationdhip with God, something else I would not have had if I were still out there.
I think it's safe to say that I have been sober for the worst days of my life, but I wouldn't for one second trade my worst day sober for my best day drunk. Whether it's a tragic loss, foreclosure, fight with a loved one or a hangnail, sober is always better.
Today I am sober 16 years.....11/15/94:^)

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....
And CONGRATS on 16 years! WOO HOO!!!
To trade what I have today for what I had in my first 44 years of life is completely unimagineable to me.
CONGRATS on 16 years! I raise my coffee cup to many more for you, 24 hours at a time.
