One year ago today, I dropped myself at Tara Treatment center. Thank God I have been sober ever since.

They invited me back to give a lead at their family day, so that is where I am headed in a few hours.

I am super emotional about this, remembering all the pain from those last few days. It is scary for me for some reason. I am not worried about speaking in front of people - just wanna cry for the person I was I guess. Maybe it is gratitude.

In any case, I am just praying that I can say something that will help someone else.

Wish me luck? or something.

What an accomplishment! Congrats on your sobriety. You have already said some things that have helped me, already...so I'm sure you'll do fine tonight. Congrats again!

Sharing experience strength and hope is what this program is all about. I make it a point to go back to my recovery house every year to take my chip.Its important to me personally and I hope the newcomer can see that this program can work for them too. I'm sure you'll do fine .Being an attraction is just another step into our new life.

Tara, God is using you as a witness. Don`t worry about what to say. His spirit will talk right through you when the time comes. He already knows what the audience needs to hear. Just relax an be an instrument...Ask Him to play you..

yep that is where Tara-dactyl comes from.

It went really well. I talked for almost an hour and I think I might have even made some sense. I did just pray that I say the right thing for someone there. I hardly thought about it and just left it up to my HP.

So cool... right after I made this post I got my tax refund and paid off the last of my Tara debt. I still believe there are no coincidences.

Life is, once again, good... for the moment. :)

I did that too. Was a guest speaker for the IOP class. All I could think about was the guy I listened to when I was a patient there.

You will do just fine.

More to the story. I was nervous also and I called my sponser before I went for some moral support and he told me to call him when it was over to let him know how it went. I spoke for about an hour and then I asked for questions so we had lively discussions going on many different topics! They told me before I left that I was much better then last weeks speaker so when I left I called my sponser to let him know how excited I was and what I was told and he told me, "I was....last weeks....speaker!!!!"

That's so cool Tara. I still go back and speak at my rehab and hope it helps someone. Doing that's a nice way to celebrate and reflect on your year and might be the start of a new way to reach out to others.
