Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Jim
Have you tried AA or other groups or therapy??
Good luck!
"poor me boo hoo" so convinced myself i could manage without it
within 3or 4 days I had relapsed subsquently had the worst week drinking in 35 years maybe that was coincidence but got sober again My doctor still thought I should use it so I went back on it but also found my way back to AA I continued to take antibuse(Disulfiram) for about a year but realised in that time for me it wasn't just stopping drinking I had to change many things in my life and am still working on that So on reflection I think It helped me but I am thankfull I found a programme that has helped me look at myself
Your in your prime so alcohol doesn't need to "ruin your life"
If I can be of any help regarding this pm me best wishes
I agree with others that it won't stop you from drinking since it is just supposed to make you violently ill. For me, how different was that than being a worthless drunk spiraling downhill (for me). So it worked for me for those reasons for my specific reasons.
There are side effects but I had no withdrawls after stopping using it. I stopped about three weeks ago. Good luck.
First, I was slipped some antabuse once at a recovery house ...
where I was of course not supposed to be drinking ...
but was sneaking & using ... and I became deathly & violently ill.
Now ... the people I've known who have been required to, or have
been supposed to, or have chosen to take it ... either learned how
NOT to take it, or throw it up after having someone watch them
take it ... whenever they decided to use.
Theses folks also formed resentments over the whole thing ...
and ended up drunk ... usually worse than before.
Several big problems ... you are rewarding yourself every 30 days
or so for NOT drinking ... with a binge. ( if I understand you )
You'll save up the time your clean on antabuse for an even bigger
party / disaster if you stay clean for a while longer using antabuse
and DON'T CHANGE YOU.
YOU MUST CHANGE YOU !!!
( how you think )
Eating that pill will NOT change you ... so you'll always be
thinking of rewarding yourself in the future ... for staying clean in
the present.
No matter how bad things are for you ...
you must start to realize that ...
NOTHING IS EVER GOING TO GET BETTER IN YOUR LIFE
BY ADDING ALCOHOL ... NOTHING !!! ... NOTHING !!!
Without having a program ... ( like AA ) for me ...
I was finished. ( I thought I'd hate it ... for a short while, I did )
The person I had become had NO CHANCE of ever being
happy WITH or WITHOUT ALCOHOL & / or drugs.
I HAD TO CHANGE ME ... PERIOD.
I have 4+ yrs. ... really enjoy AA ... don't hardly ever think of
drinking & drugging ... and when I have a passing thought ...
it passes right on by.
When you change the way you look at things ...
the things you look at change.
Good luck, I'd get to work on me.

Note: I'm not a friggin doctor ... so this is just my experience,
& opinion.
