Hello all,
Im new here, & want to know if I am even on the right site here. My husband has a drinking problem & it is driving me crazy! I need some advice, IS this the right place? Thank you, Nancy

You are next door to the right place. Al-Anon is a Fellowship for those who have an alcoholic in their life.

You will be able to locate Al-Anon Groups in your community and telelphone numbers you can call for some understanding and dirtection.

Hi Nancy, Alanon is a good suggestion where you'll find a support network. There's also a few groups in the community here which might help as well. You'll find some family and friends member groups in the link below. Welcome to the group.

Hi Nancy,

Al Anon has been a great resource for me, even being an alcoholic. I had a fiance who drank and the good people I met there helped me deal with this issue.

So good of you to seek out help. Don't let the pathology that alcoholism brings with it run you down. Take care of yourself and remember that you and your husband deserve a better life, free from the booze.

There's another group in DS called Families and Friends of Addicts (and Alcoholics) that's pretty active. Lots of support there.

Yes, Nancy, you are in the right place. People on this site are very supportive. All of us here have had experience with drinking ourselves, or having a family member who is an alcoholic. Your husband needs to go to A.A. They saved my sister's life. My sister has been clean and sober for 14 years now. I am so proud of her. It is so hard to stand by and watch your loved one drink themselves into another stooper. But, you also cannot enable him either. He is grown, he has the drinking problem, not you. However, you are the one who has to live with this, day in and day out. Small wonder you are going crazy! I would give him a choice, either he gets the help he needs, or he will have to move out, or you will.
