Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

It wasn't until I got a sponser and started doing the steps that my life began to change. I started seeing all these miracles going on around me that I couldn't explain. Of! and 6 months after my divorce, my ex wanted me back (another miracle) but I said nah, I kinda like being single!
That was 7 years ago. Today I live my life by the 12 steps and I have never been happier.
God Bless!
Where I am now that is different from before is that I truly want this more than anything now. I just really need to plug in and reach out. If anyone knows of any online meetings that are good please let me know. And if there is anybody whom is willing to sponsor me please let me know as well. I had a severe alcoholic living me for the past 2 weeks which I was using to justify my drinking while I was doing it. (and I sure do not want to be that person) she finally left yesterday now I can start getting my house back in order for me and my 2 kids.
Congrats on almost a full working week of sobriety. In my experience the first 36 hours (three days) can be the worst physically amd the most dangerous emotionally so as they said to me, if you can get your head on the pillow tonight without drinking you're over the hump. Wake up tomorrow and repeat.
It is six years and 10 days since my last drink of alcohol. For some reason right now I am stressed, irritable, anxious, paranoid and emotional. Drink is not a concern for me right now but in many ways we are dealing with exactly the same thing, exactly the same emotions and we are both sober today. Hope it helps to know that.
Perhaps the main difference is this:
I have six years experience that tells me this will pass and I'll feel better without the need to drink. Six years experience that tells me whatever happens, drinking will not make me feel any better. For 15 years, my EXPERIENCE told me there was no point, a thought which invariably caused me to pick up the first drink again and return to ground zero. Today my experience tells me exactly the opposite...I know there is not a problem in the world that drinking will solve. That experience gives me faith, and seeing you here on the same road gives me faith also.
Wish I could give you that experience for just a second so you could see how it feels...failing that you might have to stick around and tell us how it feels tomorrow :))
Welcome and take it easy my friend
