Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Is alcohol good or bad? This is a question I cannot afford to get caught up in if I am to remain recovered, free from a desire to drink alcohol at any moment in life.
Personally I loved alcohol, and still believe it to be very good, for people. I think if drank in moderation it enriches the body in ways no other properties can. If I didn't have alcoholism, I would drink alcohol, or not have a problem drinking alcohol, daily. I also think creating alcohol, selling alcohol, and using alcohol to profit or stir up business, is a good thing for society. Ironically, all of this is rooted in my belief that, for me, drinking alcohol, is a thing of the past, and unfortunately, my body, outside of my control, no longer reacts to alcohol, in a positive manner.
Not drinking alcohol, and being around it a lot, within a general society, that favors alcohol, or uses it to benefit itself, is not that big of a deal. I do know of those, however, that when their life paths do come to a crossroads of if they will or won't drink alcohol, going forward, who do get depressed at the prospect of not drinking alcohol.
This concept of no big deals, helps a lot. So what, I don't drink alcohol, who really cares, and if that is a deterrent to me being in your company, you probably are depending on alcohol to tell you what to do in life, a little too much. You're probably depeding on the properties in alcohol too much to loosen you up, so you can be comfortable around people, places, and things, and one thing you are uncomfortable about is, a person who is confident, not drinking alcohol.
I use this principle in many areas of life, money, physical appearances, status, ehcelons in society or popularity, all of them, are prone to being uneasy if one says to oneself, "what's the big deal if I am not, when the trend says a person has to be?"
My appreciation for alcohol, but also having enough strength to not be deluded of facts, from alcoholism, let's me appreciate the non-alcoholic more, because they naturally are saying "what the big deal if one is drinking alcohol or not", but also allows me to deny alcoholics and their childish behaviors when being and doing so, in a more healthy manner of tolerance and forgiveness, because again, alcohol is not a kingdom come reality. Alcohol is just some substance some moron made on accident one day and people ended up liking it alot. To think that is a means to judge another human being, as far as if they are with it or not, is hilarious, and again, not that big of a deal.
