Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

How can this group help me live with my husband's drinking? Am I really suppose to turn a blind eye if he comes home slurry & glassy eyed, and try to enjoy having dinner with him at my table?
Isn't turning a blind eye and not commenting on his drinking enabling?

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

Enabling is not turning a blind eye. It's when you help him to continue to drink by either covering up his issues , or by helping to make the consequences less than they really are.
Most women need emotional support for living with an alcoholic husband. If you choose to get rid of him, you would again, get emotional support from others who have done the same.
The emphasis is on YOU and helping YOU to live a more happier and enriching life despite the husband's disease and unwillingness to get help to quit!
You have choices and there are others who have been in your shoes who can give you the support you need to do what you feel needs to be done to eradicate your problem. By sharing and listening to their stories of how they handled their own husbands!
Hope this helps!
God Bless!
