I have a friend who has a very good friend who lost her son to an overdose of drugs - he was 34 -

This woman is devastated and her friend is suggesting she come to DS for support - the only problem is that I don't see any groups re drugs or death due to overdose.

If anyone has a suggestion as to where I can find a group that deals with drugs on DS - I'd very much appreciate your input.

This woman is so broken by what has happened and needs help badly.

So thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There's a few addiction groups here LJ but depending on your friends drug, we might be able to find a sub-group around DS that can be a support to her. I'd be happy to be a friend to her here. I've overdosed a few times and have many friends in AA who also have drug addictions and I've learned a lot from them. None more important than sometimes just being a friendly ear.

Thank you for this post! I have lost 4 siblings to substance abuse, all at fairly young ages, the oldest being in late 40's. Seems like I need several groups!

Oh well....I only found one group (inactive since 2008) for grief support for siblings.....

Anyone know of any others?

There is a wonderful book out called the Grief Recovery Handbook by John W James its very informative. Also a wealth of info on the internet including support group info and lots of other resources ...google John W James
