You were very courageous to do this and I look forward to hearing what your daughter's response is once she has a chance to think it over. I have my fingers crossed for you!

My 12 yr old daughter came with me for my 2 yr chip. I cried like a baby but it was because she supports me so much.

Way to go. Your daughter is old enough to be able to process what is happening as they certainly know more about things than we think they know. I had to tell my 19 yr old daughter and 17 year old son, just how bad my drinking had become because I hid it very well and got to the point where I could drink 14-15 light beers every day between 9-5 and still "function" when I came up from my home office in the basement. Then, I'd join my wife for dinner and have a glass or two of wine with her and act like it was my first drink of the day. Getting really honest with them has also helped me in my sobriety as I personally believe we are as "sick as our secrets" and keeping things like this secret only allows the sickness to further fester and grow. much love, PG

So go get sober and make amends. Are you still on the sauce? I try to be sober for my 10 yo and 7 yo. By me being sober the chance they will not have problems is increased.

Yup. I'm sober. I've even attended 3 aa meetings.

Early in sobriety before 12 months I knew I had to tell the kids.

The oldest, who probably seen the most, I had a conversation with and that was good.

With the youngest I just gave him an outline with the promise one day we would speak more deeply. (I have since revisited with him).

With my daughter I took her to a meeting. The daughter is the person person in the family and at the time she was about 12. After the meeting I asked her are you embarrassed that I am here?

She looked at me with a quizzical look then she said to me "Dad why would I be embarrassed when you are getting better" I still get a warm and fuzzy feeling when I think about it.
