Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
PEACE,MARK
By it's nature it started off unappealing, I had to go against my natural inclinations and normal ways of being. It wouldnt have been change if I had just carried on doing the same things.
This isnt an easy task for me alone - I could not break self will using self will. So i did as it said and asked for strength and direction. It worked.
Now things are much easier. So much more of the time what I want to do and what I need to do are the same thing.
I was terrified by any lengths at the beginning but i have found that the lengths I have had to go to are nothing compared to the things I have received in return.
Thanks gjm.
Thanks,
Dennis
Important topic I think. As many times as I heard it, I am only now seeing the relevance to "surrender" here.
It seems as though "willing to go to any length" is just a measure of surrender. Or am I way off base?
I thought I surrendered SO many times, but I could never say I was willing to go to "any length". I'm still not sure I can wrap my brain around the idea entirely.
(No, I have not suffered as miserably as many others, but I still need to seek this willingness.)
;)
The truth for me is that what I need to do to stay sober is far less difficult/onerous than I thought it would be. It actually turns out to be a wonderful way of life.
I now choose to live a spiritual life not just because i am forced into it to stay sober but because it is the way that I want to live.
