Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
We have speaker meetings so that different people can share their experience, strength and hope. We have sharing meetings so that we can talk about things that may create a situation that could lead to drinking. We have a big book so that we can read about the program and others' experiences with sobriety. We have 12 step studies so that we can better understand the steps that help us stay sober. We have a loving attitude towards others in order to help the newcomer learn to love and accept themselves - not to mention those of us who have time but are feeling low. We are a gentle, loving, caring group of people that only want to help people become and stay sober and, of course, stay sober ourselves.
We have suggestions in the way of 12 steps that we feel will help a new person become sober and stay sober - HOWEVER we do not have any AA GURUS. No one is entitled to call themselves an expert in relation to the program and no one is entitled to make their own set of rules that modify the program in order to control others. I tried to get sober for 4 years while listening to the self-appointed gurus/experts and I kept going back out. I now have been sober for 28 years because I found meetings/people who loved me and did not try to force their own set of rules on me. This is a very personal experience and one that no one is entitled to intrude upon.

It really bugs me these gurus especially aaguru himself making out he has all the answers.
This program and the wonderful people I have met have made me happier than I have ever been, even as a child. I thank my higher power everyday for AA.
I had a sponsor that was more like a Nazi, and have found a new one that is understanding and I can relate to (even though she sometimes tells me something I don't want to hear and/or do!). I can deal with that, but like someone I can relate to.
