AA and Al-anon questions

My husband agree to attend a mtg with me, but I wasn't sure it was appropriate...

If the meeting is listed as an "Open" meeting, does that mean he can come as a guest even if he is not an alcoholic?

Also, if anyone knows... Can I as an alcoholic attend an Al-Anon mtg with him?

yes open meeting means just that.

yes and yes...in our town alcoholics are encouraged to go to al-anon, and "open" meetings welcome anyone

Sure HTL. Open means just that. I took my daughter to an open meeting when she was 13 and accompany sailors who play the role of alcohol advisers on ships. Also some who just arn't quite ready to admit they have a problem, but have agreed to come along and listen. In my opinion, I think it's great to have these open meetings to raise awareness, and it's good for spouses to have a look in and see it's not a scary place your visiting.

Yes, your husband is welcome in open meetings of AA.

Al Anon? I don't suppose anyone would notice as long as you didn't say My name is Anna and I'm an alcoholic.

In Al Anon people don't just sit around and talk about the alcoholic. The focus is always on the Al Anon and their thinking. A wonderful group of men and women. My husband has been in Al Anon 14 yrs next month!.

Yeah, that would be great if hubby goes to check out AA "open" meetings. Alanon is awesome. I attend Alanon meetings with my mom sometimes... (she is big time into it).. I love em & get a lot out of them. The healing we have in our relationship together as a result of AA & Alanon has been amazing.
