high five! I couldn't agree more... I didn't even know what my real emotions were when I got to A.A. They were chemically induced. The feelings I have now I know are mine... There is nothing wrong with feeling them. Pain sadness and despair got me here... The shit doesn't just go away. I had to work for mine. I had help from my fellow alcholics and my higher power of course. I'm grateful to know me today... Thanks for the post.

Sounds all right to me. I say this in the bereavement community....we don't need consolation, we need validation. We have a right to our feelings. I've often heard, "The good news is you get your feelings back, the bad news is you get your feelings back."

You know that is a great point.I hadn't really thought of it that way before.Maybe if I try to "feel" my emotions I can deal with them instead of trying to fake it and say all is well or will be ok.Maybe it is what needs to happen.Good point.:)

iagree with riding out "the feelings"...but if my FEELINGS are being intrusive on others around me.. I need to check my spiritual conditioning and / or speak to my sponsor before i START ADDING TO MY amends list !

I think its good to get the emotion out and vent but if its effecting other people what right do i have to inflect them. thats why i vent most of my stuff at the tables, where people like myself can understand.

Its great to feel both happy and sad, and I think its great that we can remain sober to allow ourselves to deal with those emotions, be happy cos were Sober, hmm well its a good start, but far from the real world.

At the weekend I was a little low, no real reason but I was low, today I am feeling very good, repress these feelings, no way, rejoice that I am having them. Rather than blocking them out as I used to. Be Happy to be Sad if that makes any sense

first off, today, i am feeling a lot better... yeah, not going to go into why, but yeah... ok, so... i am not tlaking about feelings to hwere others have to pay for me being in a bad mood. i am talking about the natural grieving process.... besides... i don't really hate anymore(the whole secondary emotion thing)... but when i am sad, i need to work through it. Now, if i dwell on it, then all that is, is mental masturbation.
What i am tired of, is the people that are of the opinion(by action, because actions speak louder than words)that since one is sober, all of life should be biscuits and gravy all the time.
Of course there are plenty of fellow AA members, that understand completely when one is going through a hard time, and offer their ears and hearts to anyone in need... this isn't about that. It's the pink cloud sober drunks that annoy me. i am very careful to not confront them on it, because hey, if they are comfortable with the pink cloud, unless they are a sponsee, then it is not my place to rain on anyone's parade. No, but when they try to push their pink cloud on me... i went through the pink cloud stage, and only after i got past it and started working on my sobriety in true... only then did i find true happiness. Now that pink cloud...well, it boutght me enough time to become more knowledgable of the program... now the only thing that it can do is give me false happiness.

I totally relate to that... I was homeless when I came in. No pink cloud for little Robby:)lol... I've been through a lot in sobriety. I have serenity now. More than the crazy thinking I used to have. It came from pain and turning everything over to my igher power. It has been hard to do but it is simple... If I don't have expectations everything is a nice surprise. Hitting an emotional bottom in my sobriety helped...
