Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
Thank God for the fellowship. Raising our kids together, all the barbeque's and volleyball games, making gingerbread houses with our kids together, attending funerals and weddings. Where would I have been without my "family" throughout those years? They saved my ass AND helped me to find a new one through the 12 Steps.
Today my home group is celebrating July 4th (how apropo for a bunch of drunks to do Jul 4 on Jul 2, lol). A large back lot behind the meeting room with horseshoe pits, volleyball for the adults and kids to play and last but not least, all the food you can eat plus some!
yea, to say Thank God for the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous would be an understatement.
To be freed from the loneliness and isolation... what a miracle.
Have a great holiday weekend!
I haven't read the 24 Hour A Day for a good time now but it was the second book I got in recovery and i read it Daily for the first 9 years.
At the end of Though for the Day there is always a question which is always good to discuss and in this reading it is. Do I appreciate the wonderful fellowship of A.A.?
And for myself it was not only the program of AA that set me free from the bondage of self but also the fellowship.
I lost contact with the real world through my alcoholism everything i thought in my life was just black and grey. But the fellowship helped color that world back in.
My AA group would organize weekends away with other groups some really good weekends. We would also go on BBQ ,s And off-course the occasional Dinner and Members Birthday and not to forget back at the Coffee Shop after the meeting to have sometimes 30 members sitting around a table eating drinking Water ,Milkshakes ,Coffee ,Laughing Joking and just having fun .All without Alcohol.
Sometimes I had to pinch myself I couldn't believe it. I was used to coming to in a park in my front yard in a police cell covered in my own urine and vomit with the hangover from hell and alone. wondering what lies I would tell my wife and family this time.
Like i said i had to pinch myself. What a spiritual experience from the park covered in urine and vomit and alone to the coffee shop with a group of good genuine friends having a great time. O What A Feeling.
And as far as becoming like a child I have always said I may have had a terrible childhood but I have had a long one.lol
Thanks for posting .
God Bless...
Lionel
