Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
As a 15 year sober person myself....I remember this period sooo well. But, and please dont think I am trying to pop your bubble, do you have a plan for sobriety? I know that with out one, the risk of slipping is greater and I just hope you have something ready for the cravings and void that alcoholism can leave.
But back to the celebration!! I am so happy that you are happy and hope that you and your dear granddaughter have wonderful trampoline picnic.
Hugs to you
Sandy
When you get a chance, try to get to your doctor and get a liver panel done. It will help you know what kind of shape your liver is in as each person is different and alcohol effects the liver differently for each person.
I understand about the wine in the car.... I kept a small plastic glass in my car so I could pour a drink into it. After all, how could I go shopping if I didn't have a little vodka to take the edge off before walking in the store? Craziness.
I don't know about the coffee. I kept drinking coffee after I quit (2 - 3 cups a day.) I was starting to show signs of a compromised liver when I quit but I never got tested. If I had known that coffee was hard on the liver I don't know what I would have done -- tough enough to stop drinking. I need my coffee.
I had that euphoria too. It felt wonderful to finally quit and it was such a huge accomplishment. That feeling of joy from quitting stayed with me for at least a year, and gradually shifted to an internal feeling of peace.
