Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

Happy Holidays!

What are you doing differently this time from last time, to ensure sobriety.
Instead of stopping drinking Im getting sober. I look at what Im gaining not losing. Im awake and its early sun morning. We went to a family party and I was the only one not drinking of about 15. These are the wifes family and normal drinkers. I drove home last night at midnight with the wife and two kids and didnt worry about cops. That was a win. I did have to step out of the big room because it was getting loud as the MIL wines and laughs loud. I just would walk out to the food room. I used to be jealous, and still am some..., but Im glad I didnt drink.
If youre greatful there is no reason to drink... I had to learn a few things about why I drank and more importantly I have to accept Im an alcoholic. That is the beginning. And I resolve to at all costs not drink today. It is possible Cmon!

You quit before so you know you can do this. This time you can make quitting permanent. But for now, focus on now, and taking it one step at a time.
Keep posting, I think you'll find that there are a lot of supportive people here.
I joined an online AA group for LGBT as I am traveling in Vietnam right now.. and there is no AA in the small city I am living in (and I am one of the only people who speaks clear English it would seem :) ).
AA combined with this network of loving folks feels like a good way to stay connected to others seeking to live happy and sober lives.
I have recommitted to my yoga practice and my daily meditation keeps me feeling connected to God.
All in all, I feel I am setting myself up for success. When I came to this new city I made sure to tell my new colleagues that I don't drink, so there was no room for any previous wishywashyness around that fact.
As I relax into the holiday season (my second holiday abroad on my own), I am taking it one day at a time... and feeling very grateful to be on the path to lasting sobriety once again.
Wishing you all another 24 and a very happy holiday, if and how you choose to celebrate.
