Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.

My mom can't afford much but she puts a lot of thought and feeling into what she does give. I appreciate that more than I can express in words.
How would you feel if you got someone something that you were thoughtful enough to buy or make and they expressed anything but pleasure in the gift? I'd be hurt.
I have never in my life told someone I did not like what they gave and truthfully I have never NOT appreciated something thoughtful given to me.
I got a knitting kit from one of my closest friends. She didn't know that I recently tried knitting and hated it. It doesn't matter. Maybe I will use it, maybe not. She really thought I would like it and that meant something to me.
My mom gave me an oil rig music box (LMAO) but it was her mother's who she just moved into an assisted living home. It was very sentimental and I will put it nicely on display in my house because I appreciate what it represents to my mom.
I also got a ton of candy. I don't eat sugar. I said thank you and will probably pass it along to others at work. I'll enjoy giving it away to someone who will appreciate it and I wouldn't have that opportunity had it not been given to me.
Did you get some crazy gifts or something?
But ANYHOO...obviously you say you like it, and hope it comes with a gift receipt, and if it doesn't regifting to someone that person doesn't know and has no chance of ever knowing is also a good idea. No reason to hurt someones feeling for giving you a gift they thought you'd like, so put on a smile and just know it was the thought that counted and it was nice and be grateful for that :)
Bob -- just smile and say thanks.
But how nice of her to remember me! Makes me happy that she thought of me, and when I say "thanks, I love it," I'll mean it.
Then next year you can re-gift it.
I pretty much do everything suggested by you guys. I say thankyou very much and either regift or take to the Salvation Army Store. I don't really think of it as a lie because the thought of receiving something, especially something that has time involved like something handmade really means alot to me and I really do appreciate it even if I never use it!
Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!
God Bless!
at the company Christmas party this last week they had give away items that people were to play games to get something free to take home...they had a large container of candies like a Halloween kid would come home with....I did not partake in playing to win that or any other game beyond signing my name for the raffle of the table decorations...I felt sort of uncomfortable seeing the candy and the winner walked around after getting this trying to see if she could give it away a piece at a time...I avoided the temptation...and it is almost as bad as alcohol for me...but I do not completely abstain from sweets which I truly should if I were considering my health....
so do only what you can about the sweet tooth but the urges are there just as hard to break as alcohol...just no hang over from candy or cookies but then we could lose alot like a leg or a kidney or eyesight...maybe not you but that is my motives for staying out of the candy store....
I am not diabetic but dr said my colestorol was high. Not going to control it by giving in to the sweet food urges are we?
I think overeaters anonymous is the safest place for us.
