After 7 clean years, I relapsed big time a year ago. Coincidentally, this is about the same time I started my part time evening job at a bar. Beer is readily available the entire shift. My day job/career poses no threat to sobriety. When I get to the night job I start drinking an hour after getting there and until we are finished for the night. I do need the supplemental income but understand that this arrangement is not to my benefit. I assume your advise would be to quit and I probably agree. Does anyone have any thoughts/strategies that would allow me to keep that job and begin real sobriety again? Thanks for an input.

Personally I would not work in a bar unless it was absolutely the last option open to me...if push came to shove, who knows.
How important is it to you to get and remain sober?

And, I'm not sure what state you are in, but I'm almost positive it's illegal to drink while on the job, even working in a bar. It's too bad you threw away clean years.
I don't think you threw away those 7 clean years. During those 7 years you couldn't die an alcoholic/drug related death. Further, the damage you would have done to your mind, body, and spirit would be far worse today without those 7 years clean. Those 7 years also are allowing to see a problem that otherwise probably would not be recognizable. I don't know the availability of jobs in your area, but looking around for another one, could be the best thing to do.
Also, if you are a bartender and the place you work also serves food you could ask to work in a different position, say as waiter/waitress until you find something else. All my best in reestablishing yourself in sobriety.

I honestly believe that I am not truely sober till I can go wherever I want to go without being scared of picking up a drink, until I get to this point all I am doing is avoiding and that will never last forever.
