Alcoholism Support Group
Alcoholism is the continued consumption of alcoholic beverages, even when it is negatively affecting your health, work, relationships and life. If you think alcohol is causing you to lose control, it's time to seek help. Our group is a safe place to vent, check in, get back up if you fall, and reach sobriety.
You are very welcome to the forum. You will find a variety of opinions and plenty of support here so keep posting and reading.
Since you have had many day ones before, are you considering doing anything different this time? When I found it impossible to stay sober for more than a few days I went to AA meetings and found that with help and support I could then do what had been impossible before.
It's marvellous that you quit smoking and achieved weight loss, both no mean feat!
For me I had to stop seeing my alcoholism as a challenge as I failed at some point every time I tried to beat it. I sought another way and the best solution to my problem came to me through Alcoholics Anonymous.
Other people here use different methods too such as SMART, SOS, WFS. Personally I needed a lot of help to gain a long term sobriety.
I have always told myself that it's not an issue. I haven't had any legal woes due to it so it's no big deal. The hardest part is admitting that on more than a couple of occasions I have not been the best wife or mother.
In the past several months, my drinking has increased as well as having several black outs a week. My life is better than it's ever been and I can't figure out why I can't get my drinking under control. I have no reason to continue this behavior other than sheer lack of will power.
Reality was different. I had many many day ones before I got sober with AA and today, I'm sober and know that I will not drink. I'll do the same things tomorrow for my sobriety and god willing I'll be sober tomorrow too. I know that its the first drink that will get me drunk. Sounds simple but took me a long trial and error...and more error and pain before I figured that out.
Glad you are here. Glad you are sober. What will you do differently this time?
Glad you are here. I'm sure it is great relief knowing you are not alone in this journey. That is what I've found to be true to me. We try not to give advice, but avenues that might help someone else.
Just keep posting and you will keep thinking and eventually understand. Being able to just get our feelings out helps a great deal.
Hugs, Deogee
Tis good that you made it to this day one, and I pray it is the last you ever need. You found a great place to get support whatever path you choose...
Hugs,

And welcome .
Alcoholism is cunning ,baffling and powerful.and I've heard the only disease that tells you ,you don't have it. One definition of and alcoholic is .someone who drinks more than me/you most of us know someone.
And it affects people Mentally ,Emotionally,Physically and Spiritually . So where you say. I haven't had any legal woes due to it so it's no big deal. It's worth looking at how you are traveling emotionally and other areas of your life and if not happy it's time to do something about it..
And if you want to stop and most important stay stopped it is possible because there is living proof of that here and people are only to willing to reach out and let you know what they have done. And likewise you have to reach out like you are already doing.
Keep posting let us know how you are read the posts see if there are any similarities and if they are talk about them.
Again welcome and .
God Bless...
Lionel
Starting this on a Friday is a big deal for me. Normally Friday - Sunday I go wild because it's the weekend and that's my "fun time." Time to start finding new kinds of fun.
This time I'm going to just try to take it one day at a time instead of setting long term goals and failing.
I'm new here too, and I've found that people are very supportive and helpful. Like you, I've had many first days. It's not always easy to make it to day 2, but is possible! Since joining here I've learned a lot, and read a lot. It helped me to not feel so alone. One day at a time....baby steps.
Like you I had no legal issues around drinking although I did have a few close calls and there were a lot of other things that never happened to me. Life was also good in many ways but yet I could not stop drinking no matter how much willpower I had or how determined I was to stay sober. I learned at AA that the problem that I had could probably not be solved by willpower alone and that I needed to get help.
I came to realize that there were only two options and they were pretty simple. I could drink on and bear the consequences, which were becoming more serious by the day or I could make a decision to quit and become willing to do whatever it took to get there. If you are an alcoholic like I am you will also be limited to those two options. It can be hard to accept at the start but if you can recognise that you cannot drink safely and make a decision that drinking is no longer an option, you may find it easier to cope.
