You probably won't get any jail time, but you should seriously consider looking into if you have a problem or not. You don't want it to happen again, or you will get jail time for sure.

naw. but you might want to address the drink issue. in my state-texas-you can get a dui even being under the legal limit if you appear impaired. it happened to me at .05.

In Canada you would be saying goodbye to your car for a month and you're license automaticly suspended for the three months it takes to get to court. After court your license is gone for a year, $960. in fines and the $800 drug and alcahol program is mandatory before you drive again. ......And when you get your license back you have to pay anther $1000 or so to have a breathelizer installed in your car and have to "blow" everytime you start your car.

Probably not get jail time but you mi9ght get Hell time, loss of license, fianancial penalties, ulternative sentencing, mandatory AA, etc. The question is is your drinking causing legal, social, family, personal, work, emotional, spiritual problems? If they are and you keep drinking yoiy may be an alcoholic and jails the least of your worries. Check yourself out and do what you need to do.

in oklahoma you would be put on probation and court ordered to aa meetings for 6 months...plus a big fine and legal fees...........that is what they did to me in my first dui in 2000...the second one in 2002,i was put on three years probation with a year supervised,my sentence was suspended after three years meaning i did not get a felony because i stayed out of trouble..i was lucky and had god on my side because the da wanted me to do jail time...

You for sure would if you were in Arizona! Don't know the laws in VA. Here they stick you in a tent in the desert and feed you old baloney. No kidding!

I got my first DUI last year. I received heavy financial penalties, one year probation, community svc., and 6mo suspension of my driver license. The only jail time was when arrested (1 day). I live in Houston (Harris County), TX..

Nah. I looked on the internet and you were at the minimum .08 in VA. Looks like 1st time offfense is loss of license of 7-60 days (don't quote me) may want to consult with a DUI attorney to be sure.

Depends on what state you are in and if you do what the judge orders you too.

I got a wet and reckless in CA and I was court ordered to AA 1X per week for 6 months, 1st offenders DUI class and my license was suspended 30 days after my DUI date, then for a total of 6 months, as long as I completed my DUI program. Also, I am on informal probation for a total of 3 years and had to pay a fee of $2,400 to the court for my Public Defender...in addition to the DUI class fee, which was $600 if memory serves and of course, another $150 to the DMV when I got my license back...PLUS I have to maintain an SR22 insurance policy, even though I don't have a car.

If I would not have done these things, I would have done jail time.

But, I am thankful that it happened to me, because it was cheap, relatively painless lesson, to learn I had a problem with alcohol.

I am 18 months sober as of yesterday and my DUI was 1/4/08.

0.8 was legal in my country some years ago (I'm in europe). It's not all that bad. Now it's 0.5, probably wiser.

I've driven quite drunk before, over 1.30 but never had any accident - due to skill, many years of driving and pure luck. Now I know it is a stupid thing to do and simply don't drink at all when driving.
